During the breakout seminar session of the 8th eTEACHERS Roundtable, three experienced panel chairs came together to share their diverse perspectives of integrating AI into teaching, learning, and assessment.
Ms Crystal Zheng from Kau Yan College demonstrated how her department developed school-based comprehension worksheets with "comprehension boosters" to help students tackle challenging reading tasks for HKDSE Paper 1. Using AI tools like Notebook LM, teachers generated reading passages and created assessment analysis tools to better align teaching with assessment.
Ms Joyce Lai from Kwun Tong Maryknoll College presented three AI apps she created for different student levels, including sentence rewriting practice for senior forms and a superhero-themed Q&A app for junior forms. Her apps incorporated elements of gamification and catered to diverse learning needs. Apps were primarily exam-driven for senior secondary students and interest-driven for junior students.
Ms Caren Lam from Christian Alliance College focused on implementation challenges by sharing how her school successfully introduced LingoTask for writing assignments. She discussed how she addressed colleagues' concerns about skills and confidence, which resulted in more efficient marking and greater teacher adoption of the platform.
The panelists collectively emphasised starting small with AI implementation, addressing teacher concerns openly, and fostering professional sharing and collaboration to integrate AI effectively into English language teaching throughout all stages of the curriculum.
