“Navigating the New Normal” may become the international motto of the year 2020. Like everyone else, teachers have been forced to cope with the unexpected challenges and demands presented by the pandemic. For teachers, the challenge has included accelerating the adoption of online teaching and learning to integrate a variety of blended teaching and learning strategies. In schools everywhere, teachers did more than cope, they excelled in offering students awesome learning opportunities. eTEACHERS.online values teacher experience sharing. We know that teachers’ experience combines good principles, valuable experience and practical know-how. That’s why this year’s ELE eResources Roundtable theme is ‘Navigating the New Normal’ and is all about sharing how eTeachers have tackled current issues in online teaching and distance learning.
This year’s roundtable event was conducted in two sessions via Zoom webinar on Saturday, 6th June 2020. If you missed it, you can still catch the entire webinar here on eTEACHERS.online. The first session was the plenary session, where Mr Sterling Wu highlighted the characteristics of eResources that make them durable and effective. Follow up, Dr Tim Taylor introduced the newest features and resources offered on eTEACHERS.online, including a new “Entry Level” self-guided, online eResources training course.
The second session of the morning was comprised of six teacher sharing sessions in parallel breakout presentations. A brief introduction of their presentation (also available on their separate posts) made it easier for participants to choose which talk to attend. All of the breakout sessions are linked at the bottom of this post. Our featured eTeachers for the Webinar Rountable were: Dr. Benjamin Luke Moorhouse (University of Hong Kong), Ms. Crystal Ng (TWGHs Mrs Wu York Yu Memorial College), Ms. Fiona Yung (HKUGA Primary School), Mr. Jason Calvert (C.C.C. Kei Tsun Primary School), Ms. Janet Law (Sacred Heart Canossian School) and Mr. Keric Lee (S.K.H. Yuen Chen Maun Chen Jubilee Primary School). In their breakout sessions, each teacher shared their own experience and ideas of how to effectively enhance English teaching with a variety of eResources, such as Edpuzzle, Padlet, Google Drive, Class Dojo, Google Sites, Google Classroom, Seesaw and more.
The entire Webinar, including the plenary session and all the breakout sharing sessions, are preserved here for your benefit. Enjoy!
