Learning English with Little Leaf UPDATE: Digital Storytelling, Animation and Self-directed Language Learning for Primary Students

The “Learning English with Little Leaf” platform for self-directed language learning continues to gain popularity. At the Learning & Teaching Expo, Dr. Timothy Taylor, Director of the eTEACHERS.online Community of Practice, presented "Learning English with Little Leaf: Digital Storytelling, Animation and Self-directed Language Learning for Hong Kong Primary Students."


The sharing session showcased the Little Leaf multi-modal platform designed to make English learning engaging for young learners through entertaining animations,  interactive stories,  and engaging activities. Dr. Taylor introduced the platform as a fun and flexible tool that aligns with the primary English curriculum, supporting core language modules and values education in both teacher-directed classroom contexts and in self-directed, independent learning settings.


During the presentation, Dr. Taylor demonstrated the platform's rich video, music, and e-book resources. He also shared positive results from a pilot project in local schools and detailed its practical functions for teachers to integrate into their lessons. His talk offered a preview of the upcoming enhanced ‘Season Two’ platform, including advanced progress-monitoring tools for teachers and AI-enhanced character chatbots that extend speaking and writing practice based on the Little Leaf stories and activities.
