On July 13th, 2024, our 6th Annual e-Resources Roundtable/Poster Conference brought together primary and university teachers to share insights on "Digital Storytelling and AI in the Classroom: Emerging Technologies in English Teaching." These lessons included Generative AI-assisted, evidence-informed use of L1 in L2 classrooms, Gen AI and Micro-learning, and making English reading and writing fun for junior primary students with eBooks.
Together with nearly 70 teachers and student teachers from Hong Kong, England, and Indonesia, we also explored how AI can enhance teaching efficiency and foster a greater love for learning English among students.
The Roundtable commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Tim Taylor, Associate Head of the Department of English Language Education at The Education University of Hong Kong, followed by a brief introduction of the eTEACHERS project and the seminar's rundown.
Following this, four speakers delivered keynote addresses, illustrating how technology can be leveraged to improve teaching quality and effectiveness. Their presentations sparked an active Roundtable discussion, where all participants were invited to ask questions and share experiences with the speakers.
